Winter guard is an indoor color guard activity, derived from the outdoor warm-weather activity that is commonly part of marching band or drum corps. Unlike traditional color guard, winter guard is performed indoors, usually in a gym or indoor arena, and is performed to recorded music rather than a live marching band. Winter guard teams commonly perform in judged competitions in addition to performing for entertainment.
